Hey! I'm developing a PSX-style Backrooms horror game in Godot 4 called Backrooms: 1983. We already have the project started and own the environment/entity asset packs we'll be using.

I'm looking for a Godot/GDScript developer who could help implement the actual gameplay systems, starting with a smaller paid milestone rather than the entire game at once.

The game is first-person 3D and will eventually need systems like player movement, sprinting/stamina, interactions, items, entity AI, level transitions, saving, and other horror/survival mechanics.

For the first milestone, I'd like to keep the scope much smaller so we can see how well we work together before expanding the project.

Would you be interested? If so, I'd love to know your pricing for a small first milestone and see any relevant 3D Godot work you've done.

If you're still looking for a developer for this milestone, I'm interested. My released Godot project is Desktop Reptiles:

For a small first stage, I'd suggest first-person movement, mouse look, and sprint/stamina in one existing scene. My indicative rate is US$20/hour; I'd confirm a fixed price and delivery date after reviewing your project, Godot version, and expected behavior. Which gameplay system would you like to start with? PayPal works for payment.

Hey! Thanks for responding — I'm definitely still looking.

For the first milestone, I think the player movement system would be a good place to start. The project is using Godot 4 and is a first-person PSX-style Backrooms horror game.

For the initial version, I'd want walking, sprinting, mouse look, stamina, and a basic first-person camera that feels appropriate for a horror/exploration game. I'd also like the system to be structured so we can expand it later with things like crouching, footsteps, interactions, and other mechanics without having to rewrite everything.

I can provide the existing Godot project and assets once we're ready to begin. Before moving forward, could you give me an estimate of roughly how many hours you'd expect that first milestone to take at your $20/hour rate?

Also, I'd be interested in seeing any 3D first-person work you've done in Godot specifically, if you have some available.

Hey, I’d estimate around 5–7 hours for the first version, so US$100–$140 at $20/hour. That includes testing it in your scene and tuning the movement and camera feel, with the code set up so the later mechanics can be added without reworking the controller.

I don’t currently have a public 3D first-person Godot sample to share. Desktop Reptiles is the public Godot project I have available.

If that range works for you, send over the project and the exact Godot 4 version. I’ll take a look at the setup before confirming the quote.

Hi Apex Games — is the first movement milestone still open? My published work includes an HTML game and a Godot UI sample, both made with AI assistance.

If you’re considering a small paid first milestone, please send the budget, Godot version, target platform and the movement/camera behavior you need. We can discuss the requirements and feedback here.

After reviewing your brief and project setup, I can suggest a scope, price and delivery date.

Apex — if this first movement milestone is still open, I made a small runnable Godot 4.5 fixture for the controls you described: walking, grounded sprint/stamina, mouse look, wall collision, camera pitch limits and pause/cursor release.

Free source: https://nebulakit.itch.io/nebula-backdrop-godot — scroll to Download demo and choose NebulaKit-First-Person-Movement-Proof-20261012.zip. No purchase needed; the backdrop browser demo and paid kit are separate. Import project.godot in Godot 4.5 and press F5.

This is newly made AI-assisted example code, not a previously shipped first-person game. Windows/Compatibility native checks are technical QA, not human horror-feel testing or proof in your project.

If AI-assisted development is acceptable, I can assess a movement-only pilot at an indicative US$100, subject to project review and written confirmation. The scope would be integration into one existing desktop scene, source changes, verification steps, rollback notes and one correction pass against the agreed acceptance. Crouch, footsteps, interactions/items, enemy AI and saving would be separate. Exact scope, price, delivery date and payment arrangements need confirmation after project review; this message does not accept a job.

Which exact Godot version, renderer and target desktop platform are you using? A public demo is useful if available; we can arrange private sharing of an authorized stripped project after the initial fit check. Please keep private assets and credentials out of the public thread. You can reply here or email omribe@gmail.com with “Small software fix - fit check”.
