Localization Notice — New Languages Are Coming

Dear Players,

A routine localization update, nothing to download yet.

Since our last note here, the translation work has moved ahead quite a bit: Traditional Chinese, Japanese, German, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Thai, French and Spanish are now translated, joining the existing English and Russian (by Thorronzo) texts. Nine translated languages in total.

These will be merged into the next released build rather than shipped as a separate patch.

Two things worth expecting when they do land:

  • New-language growing pains. A language on its first release usually brings its own little set of problems — text overflowing a button, wording that reads stiff, a term that slipped through. Please tell us on this thread; name the language and say where you saw it, and those go into the patch updates.
  • Translations trail the story. Localization starts from a snapshot of the game handed to us, and that snapshot is by definition behind where development is right now. So whatever the next version adds will most likely still be untranslated on day one, and filled in afterwards.

Hi Axel! I came across the localization thread for Jigsaw Puzzles and noticed you've been working on the English translation for quite a while.

I'm interested in Chinese-to-English game localization, and I've previously worked with an indie developer on translation and in-game LQA.

Since it's a visual novel, I imagine there's quite a lot of text to translate, especially with new updates. I was wondering if you'd be open to having an extra hand with future translations. I'd be happy to help with a small batch of dialogue or UI text while following the terminology and style you've already established.

No worries if you've already got everything covered. Just thought I'd reach out!
