I do not know how to rate this on any of the axes. It is at the same time polished and janky, interesting and generic, engaging and boring.

Maybe I just feel like that because I put in a weekend instead of the whole two weeks, but this feels so ambitious. It feels so complete, sprawling, even, but it also feels like there is missing content. There is so much stuff, but every individual aspect of the game has glaring room for improvement.

The controls feel odd, like they were designed for a controller first. Maybe they were. The combat it a slog. The movement feels boring and repetitive at fist.

If you wanted to make this into a "full" game, you would need to re-work the UI, with mouse controls and tooltips and more polished HP bars, and you would need to re-work the early combat, and the early pacing, and the movement. Basically everything feels worse than it needs to, on a moment-to-moment level. At the same time, the game is already incredibly polished.

Basically, I liked the game a lot less than I should have, given all the effort that went into it. Maybe I am not that into RPGs.

Thanks, you’ve nailed it :D Yeah, it was very ambitious, I made my last game almost 15 years ago and wasn’t quite ready :D I stopped working on it for the duration of the jam, but I’ll get back to it and hopefully make it enjoyable!
