Thank you so much for leaving such a thoughtful analysis 😠I completely understand why you felt a little disappointed that "the player" didn’t show much affection toward Haru. I also struggled quite a bit with finding the right balance between the horror and romance elements, since, after all, this is also supposed to be a romance game haha.
I wanted to portray the player as someone who also goes through a psychological development throughout the story, from fear and suspicion, to either hatred or sympathy toward Haru (depending on which ending you reach).
I also really loved the way you analyzed Haru’s words and experiences. This really is a love story between two people with fundamentally different values and worldviews. I don’t think the ending necessarily needs to provide definite answers to all the questions raised throughout the game. Rather than giving players an answer, I wanted to leave them with something to think about and imagine for themselves.
Anyway, thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback <33 I honestly never expected the game to reach this many people, which is why I originally made it so short. For my next game, I’ll try to explore these kinds of things much more deeply!
