Gotta admit though, after the first cake layer I couldn't keep looking at that colour anymore. It's just a bit too much

And yeah, by the time you’ve made a layer, yer pretty much endgame.
I had to lose the first two days of this jam.
I had a LOT more tedium planned, but ultimately had to cut.
Potholders/Teatowels, Preheating the oven, washing out the measuring cup/spoon, having to manage another commodity of washing up liquid.
There are a LOT of steps to making a cake, and a lot of steps to cleaning up afterwards. I just captured the bare essence.
