I love how simple yet creative it is! I do have a question tho. Does the winner of most games come down to whoever went first, since at its core you are just going back and fourth removing 1 hp from each other until someone dies, so whoever goes first has a massive advantage, or is there enough room for someone's turn to get messed up by something like counter spell so that the game isn't that black and white? Obviously the focus of the game is on it being creative fun and goofy, not competitive, but I am still curious. Regardless I am excited to give it it a try!

If you always hit, then yes. But you are rolling 3d6 and assigning them. This might result in a hit, miss, an "unable to cast" failure, possible counterspell, or a refuel if/when you roll a triple. I'd stop short of saying it's a highly strategic game, but it's not deterministic.
