I still have a functional GBA SP with a snap-on grip (otherwise my hands couldn't take the flip open console due to how small it sits in my hands). I'll slap GB cartridges into it and play originals. I'll put in puzzle games mostly, like Tetris, Dr. Mario, Yoshi, Yoshi's Cookie and other titles.
The games we choose to hold on to and bring into our cluttered adult lives DEFINITELY says something about you!

I have not made an actual game boy game, but I have made several in that style: 160x144 res, 4-color limitation, limits to audio, etc. There are at least half a dozen of them scattered through my itch profile.
