Respectfully regarding 4, it is extremely awkward trying to press two keys at once to collect without also accidentally moving and screwing it all up. I would much prefer to have seperate singular key presses for all intended functions of space+arrow keys. Such as one for collecting and one for interacting, at the very least, if not just an all in one button in the first place.
Thanks again for taking the time to play and for all the detailed feedback. I really appreciate it!
About the Space + Direction controls: this was a deliberate design choice. Since almost every interaction in NanoRush happens in a specific direction (using terminals, removing NanoBytes, etc.), I wanted to keep those actions consistent instead of introducing separate keys for each one.
That said, your comment did make me think about how the game teaches it. Maybe the issue isn’t the control itself, but that it isn’t obvious that Space is meant to be held as a modifier, almost like a Shift key, before choosing a direction. I think I can communicate that much more clearly in the tutorial and UI.
Of course, if more players struggle with it, I’ll definitely keep an open mind and revisit the controls. My goal isn’t to make them unusual—it’s to make them feel natural once you’ve played for a few minutes.
Out of curiosity, how would you imagine it working instead?
