I wish that the cover art could be represented in the main text as well! I found this to be a breeze to read, and very understandable as instructions for play, but it leaves a lot of legwork left to be done before you hit the table with it. For example, the map, though helpful for scenario planning, is not detailed enough to be shown to the players as a reference or visual aid. Ahh, the limits of form and format.
Where this shines is in the spring-loaded details. I really love the openness of the (d6) encounter table.
3. Save vs Poison or −1 to random stat while in marshlands
is a tight technical rule of an encounter description but it really inspired a lot in me - truly alien marshes and their strange wildlife probably do have ways to specifically target wisdom, charisma, and dexterity. Determining the injury and working backwards to figure the alien plant sounds like a treat!
