Thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful feedback!
The questions given to ask the players put a lot of onus on them for creativity.
I totally agree--
There is definitely not room for it, but maybe mini-spark tables could help players find answers to the questions? But maybe that would hamper creativity!
--and it's an issue that's very common in storygame tables, even when you have a full-size rule or guidebook to work with. If the purpose of storygames is to "tell a compelling and satisfying story together with your table", then storygame creators should help their players (which includes the GM!) to do exactly that, not just guiding them in mechanical and procedural sense.
That's why, in the future (hopefully soon!), I would love to write a "How to Run WtESF" supplement for this game, which includes, among other, discussing the themes of the game and each of the Playbooks with the table in a Session 0. That way, players will feel less caught-off-guard by the philosophical questions that arise in the session, and they would be more likely to come up with answers that fit both their character and the "plot" the table is trying to realize, while still retaining their agency as a player. The game is still completely playable without this, and some people do not need this help at all, but if it helps more people enjoy this game, then I think it's worth doing!
