The start screen is a masterclass in onboarding. In one panel you pick between three ships, each with speed and acceleration shown as actual numbers, and right below there's a quick controls block listing everything: Space/Enter to start, A/D to change lane, Q/E or click to program turns at corners, S to brake. After a lot of entries in this jam with not one line of instruction, that care really stands out.
The neon vector look (cyan, magenta and gold on near-black) is cohesive and good looking, and the isometric buildings with light strips down their sides are nicely drawn. The HUD is built for score chasing from the start too: total score, race score, timer and a big yellow multiplier in the corner. Having a total separate from the race score suggests progression between runs. And "programming your turns at corners in advance" instead of steering in the moment is a genuinely different, more cerebral racing idea.
The problem: THE RACE NEVER STARTS. After clicking INICIAR CARRERA the screen goes to MODO RECONOCIMIENTO AEREO and sits there with a red band flashing "ESCANEANDO RUTA DE ESCAPE..." forever. The camera flies over the city nicely, the timer stays frozen at 0:00, and a ship never appears. I waited over 20 seconds and pressed Space and Enter several times, which is exactly what your controls screen tells you to do.
Two more. The game is very dark, even the scenery visible in that camera mode is at the limit of readable, dark grey buildings on a black background, which will be a problem in a high speed dodging game. And the window is bigger than the screen, so the right corner of the HUD is cut off.
I really wanted to play this. The presentation is among the most polished in the jam, which makes stopping at a loading screen that never finishes genuinely frustrating. Ping me if you patch it.
