Hey,
Thanks for your support! What is your solo golf dice game?
I honestly didn't too much "promotion" for this game. It was an entry in the 2023 in-hand design contest on BGG and was quite active with feedback and comments during the contest there. It got 2nd place overall and 1st in a few other categories.
I iterated on the game and released a few expansions on itch.io for free following the contest. My "promotion" was in the form of a reddit post and engaging the PnP hideaway group on Facebook that first year. After that first year, it started to gain some more traction on the various PnP and solo Facebook groups and subreddits.
Then, a few folks have reviewed it on Youtube which gave it more exposure. it got picked up by a publisher after the CEO found it on itch.io, played it, and wanted it as part of their solo catalog. They are expecting to release it by GenCon 2027.
I wish I could give more insight, but each game I have created has followed a different journey; Awaken the Ancients got picked up and published by Best with 1 Games within a span of 2 months. Old Town Road got picked up by a Polish publisher using a different theme.
I will say that I have a few golf themed games myself and they seem less appealing to a mass audience than I would imagine, but I am avid golfer myself so am biased.
