This worked first try and it's fun, which puts it ahead of a lot of what I've played here. I clicked, I shot, enemies died, the score went up. Simple and direct. Also, building it on your own Usagi Game Engine is a point of curiosity in itself.

The title screen is one of the clearest in the jam. It lists all three powerups with icon and name (FIRE RATE UP, SCORE BONUS 100, PLAYER SPEED UP), gives the controls, and closes with STOP KILLING GAMES! in red. I went in already knowing how to play. The powerups on the floor having a blue highlight circle means you can see from a distance what's worth grabbing, and the arena with the checkered floor and machinery up top has a proper 90s shmup cabinet vibe.

Three notes. It's brutal. Enemies swarm and had me surrounded in about 10 seconds, game over at 200 points. A slower difficulty ramp over the first 20 seconds would make the curve feel fairer. The title screen has a vertical band of static down the middle and the background is half black half blue, which reads as a rendering glitch rather than a style choice. And I couldn't find a clear health bar, just a small green sliver above the character that disappears in the chaos.

Of the "simple games that actually work" in this jam, this was one of the best. Worth playing.

Thanks for playing .. and thanks for the feedback. There's a trick to the enemies... try standing still :D They're designed to make the player panic but you can get some breathing space if you just hold your ground and thin them out. You're probably going to get overwhelmed eventually but not before taking a bunch of them down first XD
