I don't really dig games with mechanics like those, so it's not fair for me to criticise that. However - the artwork is stunning and the whole game is just oozing style, from colors, to pointy/skewed speech bubbles and fantastic character designs. Great stuff.

What felt a bit odd to me is the countdown during phone calls - I know it's part of the theme but I just don't see any actual point of it being there. Like, you could remove it altogether and I don't think the game would lose anything substantial.

Stellar writing as well :)

Thank you for playing and for your honest feedbacks! ^-^

About the countdown, I think you have a point, at least to some extent, but I'd like to explain a bit more about why we chose to add it. There were mainly two reasons behind that.

Narratively, we wanted to create the feeling of a hotline where lots of calls are coming in and you have to pick them up quickly, keeping the line open whenever possible.

Mechanically, I wanted to create some pressure and encourage players to make quicker decisions. There are several games that combine QTE with dialogue choices specifically to prevent players from carefully analyzing every option. In the first iteration, the timer was much shorter, but I didn't take into account that questions had various length and that players have different reading speeds. That's why I decided to increase the timer to accomadate everyone.

I agree that the game would still be fully playable without the countdown, but it would change the experience, at least to some extent. Anyway, I found your perspective interesting! And sorry for the long answer lol. I hope you still find our game enjoyable! ^^

Thank you so much for taking time to write this explanation. It makes sense, everything is a tradeoff of sorts. In the end I think the single most important thing is a strong vision and idea of how this game works and what do you want to "say" with it. And you definitely have this vision, decisions were made with purpose and I'll always respect that.

If you decided to remove it, there would probably be people complaining that it doesn't make sense for a hotline and it leaves them with analysis paralysis :D

Well, regarding that call timer... It's basically a Hotline) You can't keep the caller waiting, nor show that you're hesitating, so it earns it's place) Imho
