ooooo I like the ideaa, i feel the only problem is literally balancing

At level 1 i was skeptical, but as soon as level 2 rolled around i started to get what i was getting into lmaoo

The physics is hard to control tho.. Like just for regular bombs, from my experience, u cna only either throw stuff like very close or just VERY far and i couldnt get it to fire the garlic anywhere in between.. Unless im wrong and just ended up playing wrong haha (feel free to correct me in that case)

Also, other than the part of how far the garlic will fire, it CAN get stuck in a corner which can get annoying to get it out from

1 more thing was the movement, id often get stuck in around some corners here and there but more importantly the bomb spawn platforms.. That definitely makes it all the more harder to play

But genuinely, I like the idea and hope u guys work on this after the jam aswell :)
Id love to try this again with more polished visuals and a more balanced gameplay

Thanks for the feedback! I've been going back and trying to tweak especially those first few levels for a postjam version, and I agree with all of your points completely. I'm thinking of trying different shapes for the garlic, like a cube, or a sphere, and seeing how that affects things. And also going to lock explosions to 16 possible directions so that levels can be designed around that, rather than thinking if you were just 1 degree different you could've made it.
Here's a preview of some stuff I've been trying

Ohh I likea that ALOT

i agree that alot of different directions can def make it confusing and tbh harder to design levels arounnd aswell
So i like the idea of limiting the directions, tho imo u COULD go further limiting to 8 directions hehe

But from that video, I already love how much youve improved it!
I like where this is going

Als, another small sugggestion.. maybe u could rename the pause button to smthin like "slow mode" or smthing like that
Cuz if its actively being used as a mechanic in the game to position yourself better, naming it "pause" may confuse people who dont use it as a mechanic, or if they do, they might think they are exploiting it and think it was an unintentional problem

We actually started out at the very beginning with limiting it to 8 directions, and the idea was that levels would be puzzles where bombs don't respawn at all, you just get one shot to position everything and combo it into the goal. Someone pointed out that's not how golf works, and having to do the same thing over and over again just because you messed up one would be frustrating, and we should allow getting closer and closer to the goal like actual golf. Once we decided on chaos over precision, the 8 directions thing didn't make as much sense.

I think a puzzle mode could still work, but you'd have to position the bombs with the mouse, and when you retry it keeps them in the same position so you can tweak, instead of needing to reposition.

On pausing, this was originally intended as a way for people to stop and think, and not require them to be perfect with their button inputs, but I set the pause speed to be 5% so you still have a LITTLE pressure to make a decision, but it's less intense. After playing for a while, I discovered it was useful as well for that kind of precision shot, so increased the default pause time to 10% to make that more viable. I think SLOW rather than PAUSE makes more sense as a way to express this is intended, but also I quite like the idea of people discovering it themselves and feeling like they've come up with their own strategy.

Oh man im glad you moved away from the old idea :P
Cuz i feel what u guys have currently is such a good idea!

For the puzzle mode u mentioned, i feel if u DO end up working on it, it could be its own game lmao
I mean other than the visuals and bomb mechanic, EVERYTHING is different! The whole gameplay loop and hte goal changes, so it COULD just be a separate thing :P

Ahh if u feel the players should be able to FIND the use of that, thats fine, but if it becomes a crucial mechanic in any level, that COULD get annoying for a player if they never pause.. Tho its not like its a hidden button so its bound to be found sooner or later xD
But that will most likely resutl in atleast 1 guy spending 30 mins trying to get to the perfect position only to realise later that he can just slow down time :P
