There is something very endearing and wholesome about the art you made. It is a shame that the meteor/countdown aspect didn't come up that much. Unless I am mistaken I just walked around and talked to a bunch of people and eventually got a "Thank you for playing" screen but I'm not really sure what happened. Still, very cute.

Unfortunately I ran out of time to animate the end cutscene, so I put a Thanks for Playing screen there instead. It is intended, though I agree that it's a bit of an abrupt ending. As for the theme I agree that the dialogue didn't really get into the main plot enough, I'll keep that in mind for next jam!
