I did dust up an old 360 controller and that seems to work fine for both js and gml versions, I'm doing broad strokes with this project and I'm pretty happy if both ps and xbox controllers work, I hope you find a good solution tho!
As for traps and such, they definitely would fit the game well and are intended to make an appearance as extra spice for the upcoming levels! All of those will take a lot of time to develop tho :'< But I'll do my best and we'll see where it goes! ^^
