Bro this boar is cooked once I'm done with this jam - burnt, toasted, roasted, baked, barbecued, sweetened, yum. I was gonna cook the monk too, but he called me a monk after I finished his challenge, so we're cool now. Even though the deadline might've been a bit tight for you, especially as a solo dev, I still had a great time playing your game! Don't be discouraged from this game jam - this jam is like the World Cup of game jams: just being in it I think should be an honor. You did a great job! Don't beat yourself up for running out of time - you still managed to submit! :D Let's see what I got for you...
Creativity:
I love the wandering simulator of this game - it's very cozy and goofy in a good way! I think you could have a lot of witty characters that could easily make the players laugh like me. It's like that grow.io game but cute! I would love to see more goofy NPCs that have ridiculous dialogue and cartoonish avatars also!
Enjoyment:
The interactions with the NPCs were probably the best part of the game - a lot of the NPCs had hilarious dialogue that I really enjoyed, especially the boar. The boar was probably my favorite, with his funny dialogue. It sounds like you wanted the cat to get bigger every time it ate a fish to fight the boar (I hope it's a boar and I'm getting it correct btw) - I would love to see what you do with it in the future (if you want to get back into it obviously).
Narrative:
You have a lot of hilarious dialogue in this game that has a lot of character in it, especially for a game jam entry! I would love to see character developments with the cat and other characters in the game also - you definitely have a knack for being brave enough to write characters that most game devs would not do. Keep it up - I'm excited to see what you can do with your writing skills!
Artwork:
You made a great choice in all the assets - I feel like it has a distinct identity that could separates it from other games. Expanding more on the cutesy aspect of the game I think could be pretty cool for a lot of players out there - see what else you can find in your future games!
Audio:
I would love to see a goofy sound effect whenever you get hit by the boar, like a BOING sound effect that makes people laugh! A nom nom cookie monster sound effect could also be really funny for eating the fish as well.
Tough game jam! Hopefully you learned a lot about what you could do for next time - I'm rooting for you! It's OK to feel discouraged - I know these are hard and you did the best you can with the time you had. Just don't think you're a bad dev for not finishing it in time - you definitely piqued my interest! Hopefully I'll see you next year!
