Wow, this is definitely my favourite jam game so far. Right up my alley : D

At first I thought "Huh, neat little concept, but I guess this will be quite short", and then I saw you introducing the loops which have been heaps of fun. I only made it to loop 3 so far, but I'll try again later to beat all of em : D

I also like that dying in a loop brings you back to the beginning of the loop, and not to the beginning of the entire game.

What I find particularly interesting, and something you really could base a game on is, how the loops introduce certain numbers being more dangerous. Take the 1 being way larger for example. It gives the player more challengers, but when it is time to actually collect the one, it works the opposite way this time,  the one being big works in the players favor. I genuinely find that unique.

Stuff I think you could add is a little loop counter.

Perhaps also some sort of balance, because sometimes it can be quite challenging to get the required number, other times it is literally the first number that falls and no challenge at all.

One bug I came across is, that it seemed to load the collision of another map, while displaying the correct map though. So I was hovering in air and stuff as if there was ground.

Overall still very neat game, as I said, my favourite so far : D

All right, did all loops. Can't add much more, very entertaining game, made me want to play till the end : D

Thanks so much for the detailed write up and for playing all the way through! It’s super helpful and it really means a lot. I wasn’t sure if anybody would because it does kinda get borderline unfair at a point. I was really busy during the jam period so I wasn’t able to do as much playtesting as I would have liked, I only got to fully play through the loops once.

I don’t think this concept really has legs beyond this, but I’ll probably try and fix some bugs, balance the RNG a bit and add some polish for a post jam update. If I find the motivation maybe I’ll also expand the loop system to 10, but with loop specific boon and curse modifiers on top of the number upgrades so the loops feel more unique (I.e. “Curse: You cannot jump” “Boon: Falling from the bottom to the top of the screen makes you phase through numbers until you touch ground again” stuff like that.
