That's nice! :D Maybe the sidebar hides so that the user can click on other stuff? When I go to another menu and drag the right edge to the left, it pops back. :/
AFAIK, it isn't behaving that way on purpose, but I didn't know about that workaround of dragging the right edge, thanks for pointing that out; maybe could be a temporary palliative.
