This is quite fun, but I find it unexpectedly difficult. For some reason, it messes with my brain to just type the missing letter, my fingers want to type the whole word immediately. That causes kind of a short circuit in my brain that blocks me just long enough to not type the letter in time.
Some ideas
- Since there is a timer for the whole sentence, maybe there doesn't need to be a one second timer for each individual letter?
- When typing a wrong letter, it could put in the right letter in red and deduct from the timer.
- Maybe it's possible to allow the player to type the whole word? E.g., when the promp word is G_M_, and the player presses G instead of A, it could mark the G green and expect the A next. I think for me personally this would be a more natural way to play.
Great work on this so far! I can really see it going to some fun places. You could load in open source texts as levels, or even let players upload their own texts. There could be a memory mode, where the same text is presented over and over, but each time it starts again, more letters are removed. Could be a fun way to memorize a text!
