I don't really talk a lot online generally but I feel like because it comes up in this it almost feels like im engaging with the text just to speak in an open forum about it.
I think the opening felt both frustrating and sad, (not like, with the game, but as the game intended I believe) to watch Millie engage online in such a highly reactive way despite having a clear need to socialize. It resonated with me.
The part about anime made me think about a song by Kevin and the Bikes about a guy who has seen the show Ed, Edd and Eddie so many times that it has consumed his life and helped him stamp out any sense of maturity that could have been growing by reliving the lives of children over and over again. Closing out his friends and family as people who just don't get it.
It made me think about our lovely meatsacks and how our lives and self-perceptions are framed by biology in a way that makes true independent self-hood from things like gender, bodily health and attraction very difficult, society aside.
I enjoyed my time quite a bit and the art was striking and unique. The description of seeing someone through an eye was probably my favorite part. The red and machine UI elements felt very OG terminator for some reason to me, which I love so it felt very cozy and nasty at the same time. Shout out the terminator.
