the game is playable, though the UX is poor. I’m not sure now how many times I need to beat the rook to finish the first puzzle. Have a look at my game https://programersi.itch.io/imagichess to see what I’m used to regarding the piece movement.

Hey, thanks for trying again, very much appreciated :)
Sorry to hear you found it confusing. Did the tutorial not work for you or was it poorly explained? Because it is not about beating or checkmating other chess pieces. They are just there to guard the treasure. There should be an info panel explaining you need to find the treasure (golden tile) with the help of the colour-changing tiles. Once you have found and visited it, another panel should open, that you now need to take the treasure back home (castle icon) where you started. Maybe there is room for improvement in the tuturial? :'D
Following your comment yesterday I did check out your projects, though, including imagichess. It is very impressive, especially since I know how much effort went into my very minimalist game. Hats off. :D
yeah, I simulated a regular user who is too lazy to read all the text. The font color is not readable enough - at least for me, when I played in a browser seeing the yellow text on the blue board with yellow surroundings. Now the game makes much more sense
Maybe some animated explanation for simple people like me. This game is hard.

To be honest, I skip through the tutorial fairly quickly myself. I just assumed that was because I know the rules to my own game, but I can totally see this happen now. How one might think, hey, I know chess rules! Lol. Thanks for the tip, will look into improving the tutorial experience!
Outch though, about the screenshot :0
