I don’t like that it was purely made by AI, you asked why it is hated so i will tell you why i don’t like it. many people start with it, can make cool stuff by using it, but if you sat them down in front of a game engine without their "tool" they would be helpless, you are not really learning you are just telling your "worker" commands. i am not one of those people who thinks that AI should not be used at all, when i use AI I mainly ask it how I can do something and don’t say do it for me, i more so use it as a personalised web search engine. If you get a job at a game dev studio purely by using AI than great for you but i don’t think its likely.
The second problem comes when using at a game jam for example. I like to see game jams as something like a marathon for game development. Saying "well that’s cool game you made, but you could have made it better if you used pure AI" to a person who worked hard on their game is like saying "well its cool that you got from point A to point B at such a given time by running but it would have been faster to just drive a car" to a person that just finished a marathon.
In your older comments you also said that AI is similar to asset sharing..... WHAT? how is that even similar? It would be similar if you used AI to only generate the assets, but comparing the entire usage of AI to asset sharing is stupid. We game devs, junior to seniors, all understand that not everyone knows how to draw and for somebody learning to draw and to develop is too hard, which is why some people (that are absolute saints for the internet if you ask me) decided to draw assets for other to use, for free.
You also mentioned that you are new to game development, yes maybe we will all be switched for AI models, but probably not everyone, but I am telling. Those who work purely by using AI and have 0 actual knowledge will be kicked out first. I know. Game development is a steep road that is scary to start. But if you truly feel ambition to making games and it is something you are passionate you will be able to learn and get better. I hope you read the entire message cause i feel like you need it. I wish you the best and good luck in your game development journey.
