I mean i get your pissed of since reading it back my comment sounded like i was looking down on you, but that was not my cause, i think i made a mistake by putting you in the same bag as other people that used AI in this game jam. I didn’t write that you wrote/said the thing that i than compared to a stupid remark about a marathon. I wrote it as a comparison since one other guy said it and I found it ridiculous, I showed it as a comparison to a real life marathon because i think it is in a way similar to a game jam and that i don’t get why people use AI in game jams since it is most of the time not allowed if you don’t actually make anything yourself and let AI do it ,which in this game jam it is not allowed but checking back that rule was only mentioned in the discord server which you can access in (https://itch.io/jam/one-button-jam-2026).
Another thing you wrote is that you didn’t get why i compared people that develop games using free assets. But if you read my comment again, that’s not what i wrote, i said/wrote that people that DRAW the assets that others can for FREE are saints since they are making something that can help others from which they don’t profit from, which I consider a very selfless thing to do.
You asked in what case i would see someone using AI as a sinner, I am not sure if you are trying to poke at me for using a word saint in my last comment but ill answer anyway. I would probably consider that a person who used it in a way that wasn’t allowed, Like for example in a game jam where having an entire game be made by AI is not allowed since the thing you add as a commission should not be made entirely by AI and should still be consider the persons work. Or for example when its disclosed that one should say that they used but they didn’t. I am not forcefully trying to point this at you since you disclosed that you used AI and also probably didn’t see the AI rule from the discord but still the link to the discord was on the same page you signed up to this game jam on.
I didn't assume that just because somebody uses AI it means they have zero knowledge what i wrote in my last comment was this:
"Those who work purely by using AI and have 0 actual knowledge will be kicked out first."
I meant that if you use AI ANNNND don’t have any knowledge. By being kicked out i meant devs from the industry being kicked out and switched for AI models. Just because i said that can happen to some people doesn’t mean that i was implying that it would happen to you.
I was not trying to tell you what to do, since you mentioned you were new to game development in one of the other comments I just assumed that you wanted to get better and wrote what i think would help you. I don't know about you but when somebody says that they are new to game development i don't think anybody would assume that that person has been coding for over 30 years. You have a job and multiple incomes cool, good for you but i don't know what that has to do with my comment. And about your last question...
"Is it such a bad thing that I use AI to have some fun, and to help others have fun?"
Well it somewhat is when it is part of a contest and your way of having fun is breaking the rules.
Anyway I hope you have a great rest of your day. I didn't write the first comment to make a personal critique on you but more so because i saw that in one of your other comments you mention that you don't get why AI gets hate so I wanted to tell you my opinion.
I don’t like that it was purely made by AI, you asked why it is hated so i will tell you why i don’t like it. many people start with it, can make cool stuff by using it, but if you sat them down in front of a game engine without their "tool" they would be helpless, you are not really learning you are just telling your "worker" commands. i am not one of those people who thinks that AI should not be used at all, when i use AI I mainly ask it how I can do something and don’t say do it for me, i more so use it as a personalised web search engine. If you get a job at a game dev studio purely by using AI than great for you but i don’t think its likely.
The second problem comes when using at a game jam for example. I like to see game jams as something like a marathon for game development. Saying "well that’s cool game you made, but you could have made it better if you used pure AI" to a person who worked hard on their game is like saying "well its cool that you got from point A to point B at such a given time by running but it would have been faster to just drive a car" to a person that just finished a marathon.
In your older comments you also said that AI is similar to asset sharing..... WHAT? how is that even similar? It would be similar if you used AI to only generate the assets, but comparing the entire usage of AI to asset sharing is stupid. We game devs, junior to seniors, all understand that not everyone knows how to draw and for somebody learning to draw and to develop is too hard, which is why some people (that are absolute saints for the internet if you ask me) decided to draw assets for other to use, for free.
You also mentioned that you are new to game development, yes maybe we will all be switched for AI models, but probably not everyone, but I am telling. Those who work purely by using AI and have 0 actual knowledge will be kicked out first. I know. Game development is a steep road that is scary to start. But if you truly feel ambition to making games and it is something you are passionate you will be able to learn and get better. I hope you read the entire message cause i feel like you need it. I wish you the best and good luck in your game development journey.
I am too big of bitch to make even fictional character mad, of course i would apologize to the mom in the story. the idea is interesting and makes you think, visuals are great. it would have been better if there was another way to show me that if i input at a certain time since k also progresses the story, so sometimes when the text was shorter i frowned when i didnt want to. I really like your style.
"All you need is a kiss" Me too bro... me too....
But like man is this goated, the sprites arent as detailed as in other games but this is genuinely entertaining and the visual parthas its charm, i really like the 3d aspect that turn since some may consider it ugly but i think i makes this game special and different, btw the start of the level after you get out of the tree is annoying and hard as fuck lol. the long loading screens are bummer, if you dont know the cause you could have made a loading screen overlay that would dissapear after everything loaded
It is cool and you put a lot of work into it since the visuals are straight up stunning but you use mouse position for input so it breaks the one button rule. I saw you being confused about this in a lower comment so ill explain, you can use left click on your mouse as input but not the placement of the cursor, since moving your mouse is used as an input in your game it breaks that rule, since if you werent able to move your mouse you cant win, mouse position can be used in stuff like menus but it should not be part of the gameplay process at all, its a bummer how many people missed this fact and made great games that technicaly get automaticaly sent to 0 on the theme scale. anyways great game overall.
Holy cow, most fun game i have played yet, i said in one game before but this dethrones it, I tip my hat to you my guy, if i were to speak of all the things you did right we would be here forever so ill just say 2 things that bugged me a little bit, the music is aight but some EUROBEAT would have gone a looooong way and second in my play session i felt like my car was becoming more slidy and uncontrolable the longer i played, i dont know if its a skill issue on my part or the code its still a great game. its like what an avarage man does when he goes into a store a gets his hands on a shopping cart lol.
Probably one of the most fun games i have played yet during review in this jam, a lot of other entries make you only having one input a challenge this game turns it into a fun mechanic you can use, i love that if i double tap and hold the first click a bit a longer i longe and change directions at the same time. love it, this has got to be one of the games i hope/think will win.
Holy cow thanks for the genuine review, i wanted to finnish the ui as fast as possible without lowering the quality too low, I wanted to add a part where you actualy speak with the devil who either lets you ride right away or explains the rules but i didnt have a good place or time to record my voice, i guess i could have made the option clickable by mouse but i wanted it be playable purely by a single button even without gameplay, technicaly you can do everything with space except the pause menu.
I am really flattered by how much you liked it, i am actually editing a devlog about my proccess of making this game during the jam, if you interested than i can send you a link on discord once it is finnished, my discord name is the same as on itch io,
and once again thank you <3
