Cold Effect
The new armor, created from fragments, protected well from the supernova's radiation. The specifics aren't specified. That's what they're called. "Fragments." An experimental version. A full protective suit. It's also armor. Even the helmet is like something from the Middle Ages or like a welder's. Some kind of triangular fragments. Different colors stick out here. They're clearly reflectors. It's just not clear what. Not light.
When the alarm sounded, I was already wearing this gear. And then everything went dark. And then, about 15 minutes later, the lights came back on. But there was no one there. The supernova had died down. And it glowed with a bright black light. And then the mutants appeared. There was no one else here.
The protective suit protected me from that. The radiation. But moving in it was like being underwater. Not so easy. You have to walk carefully. But these icy, steely footsteps. They echo. This whole suit is a big mystery. It's not heavy. But it's hard to walk in. And every step makes that sound. Like ice cracking.
Some mutants wander around sometimes. They're distorted. Transformed. There were 10 scientists here with you. But an hour ago. They flew away. And you were left here alone. But then there was a flash. And many mutants appeared. You've already counted about 30 different ones. And you've only been wandering here for about an hour.
You have to get used to how this suit moves. You don't remember how the ship is built. Before the flash. It was a small ship. You knew it. You even thought it compact and cramped. And now you're on a huge station. It's a vast labyrinth. Of identical corridors. They are spacious and large.
Something strange has happened. You tried to take off the suit. But it's as if it's dug into you. And it won't come out. As if tree roots have grown through. When you pull, you feel a sensation. And then a sharp pain. Like ice. You can't even take off this helmet. You remember how the helmet was light as a feather. And the whole suit was light. Why was it so hard to walk?
You're moving slowly. Trying not to attract attention. Your hands are stiff. As if frozen. But you're sure it will pass. So far, you can't grab anything. And your legs are barely moving. Where are you? What is this place? And why is it so cold? Your fingers tingle. You remember what the scientist once said about the cold effect. And then he closed the door. You overheard it.
I played the game Dead Effect 1 last year. It made a huge impression. The character even gets a zombie virus in certain levels. And there are additional effects like slow motion. Interestingly done.
