Hello! I have a question regarding Wear on Gliders. The rules say, "Gliders have a maximum of and start with 5 Wear." It also says that when a Glider reaches 0 Wear, that the Max speed is 1 and there can be no mods. Shouldn't this be the other way around? We start with 0 of 5 Wear, and when reach 5 Wear, that is when our Glider is junked? Thank you so much! I'm starting completely fresh with a new character to get used to the new rules! 😊

Good question! Wear is just that; the decreasing quality of your glider/gear as it is worn out from use. The choice to handle it this way was purely to align with the words used to describe it and the game mechanics that already existed. You start with 5 'possible' Wear on your glider, and it decreases to 0 over time. At 0, you are reduced to a max speed of 1, and cannot use any of the mods attached to it (until you repair).

I could have just called it 'Quality' and ticked down in the same way as exists, but I wanted to tell players that their stuff needs upkeep to stay viable in the harsh environments of Eridoor. This choice also matches with how the resources are used in the game, keeping mechanic names aligned with how they would be expected to work in the system, e.g. decrease Stamina, use Momentum, and mark Wear all decrease the total resource pool.

Hope that helps explain why Wear is as it is and gives a little insight into the design process behind the game.

Hello! Thank you so much for your thorough reply! I was having a little trouble understanding it still, but I believe what you mean is for the Glider it is "possible" Wear, as you mentioned. So, am I essentially recording two aspects? How much possible Wear my Glider has as well as how much actual Wear? For example, I start out at 5 possible Wear. I tick off any Wear my Glider might encounter, able to reach the max of 5. However, if it gets into a really bad scrap, it now only has 4 possible Wear! And then so on and so forth, unless I repair my Glider, I could get down to 0. Is that how it works? Thanks so much for your help on this matter!

I also have a few other questions, if that is alright! 😁 For the Guild of Sand, I think I understood it right that you can only find them at the roaming caravans in the desert? You can't find them at a normal Settlement? Also, it mentions The Caravan Friend is for high-ranking members. Is that when I reach Level 3 or just Level 4? I appreciate it! I love the new Guilds and their quests! ☺️

Start with 5 "possible" Wear. Mark 1 of those (remove it) when Wear is taken to your glider. Add "possible" Wear back through repairing your glider. Reach 0 "possible" Wear and you cannot use mods. You got it right!

Guild of Sand is only found in Desert locations. When you find them then you can perform Settlement Actions there, as well as interacting with them. You cannot find Guild of Sand representatives in Settlements outside of this action. The Caravan Friend reward is only for level 4 members, which aligns with the requirement for other Guild special rewards (I missed adding the Bond Level 4 requirement, sorry!).
