The first nights can feel a bit challenging because you don’t have any upgrades yet. At the base level, the game is designed to rely more on player skill - you need to position yourself carefully and learn the spacing. Once you unlock upgrades, cleansing becomes much easier and more forgiving, but it comes with trade-offs in other stats like speed and mobility.
The idea of “The difference between being able to cleanse and being hit was like one pixel” is a reference to old arcade machines.
After a few updates I’ll also be working on balancing this progression curve, so the early game should feel smoother. I understand it can feel a bit confusing at first.
