Yep, renaming the character folder progressed to this:

WARNING: No sprites found in directory: Characters/dlc_carmen/Character

Well, and of course the alt skins starting the struct.ini error. From that point, I just tried renaming the Character folder to lowercase. Instant crash, lol.

Having zero knowledge of GSM2 before I say this, would sanitizing all the paths you check and load to lowercase fix this?

Also, as a side note, I’ve run the game in Proton since making this post, and I’ve noticed the Linux version seems to be missing some visual effects.

Yeah I think removing all the uppercasing from the checks will help the issue. I also suggest double checking that the sprite names in the character folder are also lowercase just incase, since I literally had to lowercase everything for it to stop throwing errors when I tried it. I got the Blocky Kanto character working, so meanwhile I'll check one with alternates next to see if they are throwing a different error for any reason.

I am also aware of one visual glitch where the background pattern is missing, I might have a fix but its stupid that it happens to begin with >:T Basically its refusing to load, so I might just need to reimport the file and see if that fixes it.

The main issue from what I've read is that since GMS2 decided to change the paid license into the free version and needing a new license for runtimes newer than 2023, so I'm going to run into issues in the older version with Linux sadly -~- So I'll be working around the limitations at the moment. Let me know if any other visual bugs besides the background pattern are present please 👍
