Kinda need some form of response to this ASAP- I don't want to commit more time into the save with this bug present- I'd want to know if I should just start over

A new version should be coming through shortly, where you just need to load the save and it should patch it! It worked for me, but if it doesn't work for you then you'll likely need to create a new save.
But if you want to try one more thing before making a new save, and you have a way to enable console commands, try: in the console set
- gina_stage = 8
- event_gina_painting_gift_seen = True
- gina_milkshake_banned = False
- inv_sweetmilk_elixir_powder = False
