Hello! I have played your game for a while and I had some feedback for you!

  • Love the art! The storybook aesthetic is wonderful.
  • The game seems to lack like... any menus. Not that it needs to be able to pause, there's no urgency, but having a title card and maybe some settings for adjusting sound would be nice.
  • You seem very limited on ingredients on the first day. I could not brew anything until the second day.
  • This one is probably just my bad but I was trying to brew baby oil as my first potion and I was stirring too many times and ending up with trash potions, because baby oil only requires a single spin. This probably wouldn't have been a problem if I read through the other potions first and realized the spins listed are exact steps, I thought you had to spin until it changed color or something.
  • It takes half you energy each day just to pick all your plants. Seems like a lot!
  • It would be nice to have a 'quest tracker' or at least a quest book so I didn't have to go back to talk to the familiar every time I needed a reminder what potions I needed for a quest. Not that the play area is all that large, so it doesn't take long, but it would be a nice quality of life feature!
  • I liked the vacuum on the broom rack. Hocus Pocus reference?
  • Had a bit of a technical issue with stirring. I use dual monitors and my mouse kept going off onto my other monitor and messing up my spin while playing fullscreen as recommended on the game's page. This was solved by simply mirroring my displays while playing.
  • Creative use of the theme!
  • The difficulty - this game is very easy. Maybe it's supposed to be a 'cozy' game and that's intentional? But there was no urgency about anything. Some thoughts if you'd like to make it a bit harder:
    • Maybe add a timer on the quests so you don't have an unlimited amount of days to do them?
    • There's no reason not to just sleep until the ingredient you need shows up in the shop or garden right now, maybe add some reason not to do that? (Like the above quest timer)
    • I was constantly just referring back to the book to see what I had to do to brew anything. Maybe some sort of timer after you add the first ingredient to the cauldron would make it a bit more tense, and make it so you actually have to know the steps for the potion you're brewing first?
  • The 'hitbox' on dragging things into the potion seemed a little off. I would have to drag some a couple times to get them to register.
  • I liked that the potion changes color as you add stuff to it! Nice touch!
  • Does the game ever end? I stopped playing at day 11, but I was not sure if I was working towards something or just trying to make infinity money.
  • Finally, I ran into a pretty bad bug. After around day 8 I could no longer complete quests. I had the correct potions in my inventory, but the 'complete quest' button remained grayed out. I have provided two screenshots as examples:

And that's it, sorry I know that was a lot! I hope this feedback comes off as constructive, I'm not trying to be negative just trying to help the game improve! As it is I thought this was a very cute little cozy game, and again I love the visual style!

Have a wonderful day and good luck in the jam!

Hello, first of all thank you so much for playing our game and giving such an in-depth review!

Thanks for letting us know about the issues you encountered! We unfortunately didn't have enough time for testing and balancing the game at the end, even with the extra day. Some of the things you mentioned were on our "nice to have" list (such as a quest tracker or stirring improvements) but we barely got to implement one or two things from the top and had give up on the rest. There are also some other things you mentioned that we didn't even think of, including having an actual end of the game (even if it sounds obvious lol).

I don't know if we're gonna update the game, since during brainstorming we got some ideas which are probably a bit better for a long-term project, but thanks again for all the feedback and good luck with future games!
