One of the biggest problems with combat is that there isn't that much strategy on the player's side.  Sure there is something to think about when building the deck, but once combat starts it is fairly predictable and repetitive.  I feel it would be better if I keep X cards to a max hand size and/or be forced to discard Y cards every turn.  Mainly because it is hard to build a combo (damage or arousal) that isn't constantly being undone by some enemies like the Goth Girl.

Thanks this is good feedback. I made a rod for my back by having enemy and players share all cards...
Your idea of discarding cards is one to play with, I suppose the core problem to solve is figuring out how to enable longer combat chains.

I don't know if that would be a good idea, part of the "lack of strategy" with these deck builders is working with the hand you get, you don't always get what you want when you need it, so you need to be able to work with what you have, maybe there can be cards or relics that can grant these types of effects but I don't think making that a passive ability is a good idea.

Fights being predictable is a good thing, it allows us to plan in advance of what is coming or make opponents skip to a less threatening card with what we have access to. Making fights unpredictable would than make a real "lack of strategy".
