I'm going to be very honest: You have a complete lack of awareness of what 'yandere' is. The fact you took time out of your day to write a hateful essay of all things on a free piece of media that is clearly marked as 18+ with all proper tags and warning on it speaks volumes of the kind of person you are. The fact you also speak poorly of those who enjoy this fictional work again, speaks volumes of you as a person and nothing flattering at that.

You talk a big talk of how 'how dare this 18+ game have 18+ themes', and also disparage the game repeatedly based purely on the fact you are entirely ignorant of not just the themes within, (yandere), but also openly state you've not played a lot of VNs, and also judge this FREE game thinking its 'minimal effort' when looking at all the unique animations, scenes, backgrounds, unique poses, and art, its actually already surpassing some licensed and published titles by mainline companies.

This game is not for you, and while that is a fine and valid thing, YOU are the person who decided to make an essay taking pot shots at it's creator, fans, and the entire VN community repeatedly all for what? Some kind of moral high ground? You are literally a living embodiment of having no life and needing a hobby that isn't being a genuinely toxic and depressing person.

Before you shit on media you don't like, at the very fucking bare minimum, know the media's audience and it's themes- Look up yandere media- you'll be surprised how popular it is especially in mainstream media.
Play more visual novels and learn typical visual novel tropes and story beats. Just like hero tales in fiction, VNs tend to follow a general story line flow.

As someone who has played over 50+ VNs, over 20 of those being mainstream big house published titles, this game is actually very well polished for being not just indie but a single person show! It's an impressive feat! On top of that, this game utilizes a lot of advanced storytelling techniques in VNs that are not often commonly seen in Ren'py engine works.  It follows a typical romantic storyflow and has many of the common and uncommon otome tropes, as well as the typical yandere story beats. It is a fun/relatively new take on many 'classics'.

Learn for one thing, basic human fucking decency about what a review is and is not, and secondly, learn the fucking media you're consuming before you begin to criticize.

So here is my rebuttal essay, and enjoy knowing you got a rise, but more, in knowing you are in fact, worse than the very characters you find repulsive in how you speak and obviously treat others.

Like damn, at least Harlequin doesn't hide that he's a monster, you try to pretend you're actually a decent person. That's got to be rough.

You voiced all my thoughts after reading their review, thank you. People seriously need to be more informed before writing a review like this...

I don't mean to shit on the community and I am sorry if I come off that way. This reply will be pretty sloppy so sorry about that.

I think I mentioned the fact it is stated as 18+ but my concern was that I was worried people of younger ages wouldn't care for the tags as content warnings properly and just kind of see it as a norm. I do enjoy the art and I was certainly a bit harsh on the overall story of the game and I do recognize the fact that this is a one person operation and that indie games are already hard to make and during the review I should've made a couple points on the fact for the game they are running it's not the worst so that is on me and is probably very good in the community of VN and that it's just my small selection of VN games I've played were more to my taste so obviously this was going to be something I didn't like as much.

I am really sorry though if I did come off as someone trying to just shit on the game just because I can, I did say though that I was not trying to shit on the community I said that at the very end as well my intention was to never laugh at the people who like the game.

I do know what a yandere game is, I have played quite a few so it isn't some crazy subject and I do know that's what like all these characters are I just wanted them to be more fleshed out personality wise, I know some had minimal screentime so nothing can take place and the fact this game has like two chapters so nothing can take place like within a logical time sense. I'm just not use to more explicit yandere games and I see how my inexperience in that makes me come off as seriously arrogant

I do see where some of my points can be easily rebutted, they weren't properly structured and I see where I missed some things so I thank you for that. I did not intend to write this as like a "no one should play this, I am way better, I have 0 experience in VN and hate any creator which tries to make something explicit!" but I do see how I came off like that.

Sorry that I offended you and made a poorly made argument, as I've said I didn't mean to bully anyone and I just wanted to say that idk this game wasn't for me but then again I did say all of that very harshly. But still thanks for the reply idk how to say this very well but it did help me understand a bit of the topics of the game better but still idk I'm really sorry my comment sounded like an attack on the community and creator, I was too harsh but I never meant to attack anyone. I still stand by a few of my points but as I said earlier I see where I kind of went wrong so thanks for that.

I commend you for taking the time to reflect on your post and my response.

As I said, it's fine for something to not be for you, but you have to engage with reviews in good faith along with the community that the media is within.

I do encourage you to continue to try new VNs and branch out of your norm, but always keep in mind, a lot of games here on itch.io in particular, are labors of love, and like A03 are shared with others for no reason other than the love of creating. That means you need to understand what is and is not going to be a respectable and decent review and critique.

Part of the VN community, especially the indie game community, is based on uplifting others and sharing what we enjoy. You don't need to leave all glowing reviews, but you do need to approach them with the understanding of who and why they are made, and the audience.

That all being said, I wish you well and that you find games that better suit your tastes and that offer the experiences you're looking for. This may not be it, but, likely you will find something that is.

Literally gave voice to my thoughts. What was that person even thinking honestly
