Very fun art and music. The sounds could use some variety to be less monotonous, but pretty good still.

I think the game started a bit slow so it could put some people off. It only got kinda fun around level 3, even still each round felt a bit too long imo.

The 2D is really good. I really enjoy the cartoony billboard look. The 3D models are actually pretty fun too, but I think the pixelated look in-game makes them feel clashed with the rest of the 2D arts, so it could be slightly improved.

Not a bad entry at all. Good job!

Thanks so much! I totally agree regarding sound design -- I threw those sounds together a bit hastily on the last day of the jam and would definitely like to add some more varied sounds (plus it's really easy to do with Wwise). Specifically the boardwalk footstep one is kind of irritating to me, lol.

That's also definitely fair criticism regarding gameplay. I didn't want to overwhelm players immediately with too many gingerfolk to take care of (especially once the snowmen come in which is a new learning curve) but the overall pacing of waves could use some more careful design for sure.

The 3D models weren't supposed to look pixelated at all... I wonder if that's just a web player artifact? In the full download (or even full screen on web) it all looks really crisp to me.

Thanks a bunch for the constructive feedback!

Ah you're right. It's true if I play it full screen on web it looks crisp. Even so I may still think it could be considered clashing styles with the 2D arts, because the 2D is a totally flat plane while the 3D models have shadows and a bit of reflective materials on them as well. It's not a huge deal honestly and it could just be artistic choice, haha.

That's totally valid criticism, yeah. Honestly the 3D assets were only available to work with quite late into the development cycle so we didn't have a ton of time for the mashup to mature. Given more time I would have definitely liked to be more careful about reflectivity, shadows, light coloring, color grading, etc. so the 3D would feel at home in a 2D setting, but what we had time to submit just used default lighting and some camera tricks. But yeah again really appreciate the thoughtful feedback :)
