Fun! The core concept of realistic gun mechanics is unique, it's reminiscent of Reciever (2013) and I want to see more of it!
Here's my feedback from playing about an hour:
- More varied firearm platforms would be great, such as shotguns, revolvers, rifles (bolt action, lever action, semi-auto), machine guns, etc. Even outdated guns like the arquebus would be fun to use!
- I like the drone enemies where they are at the moment, I know some players might want more of a challenge, but I feel like the AI being predictable and clumsy robots actually makes sense in this game. They should still be dangerous if you're sloppy, but the focus is more about being tactical and using your guns effectively rather than a generic action shooter. If there are new enemy types, then I'd like it to be clear what their weak points are and it should be an exercise in strategy instead of reflexes.
- Maybe because it's a demo at the moment, but we actually get too many magazines! It never feels like I run out after the first few minutes because they're so plentiful. Obviously, it's not a bad thing, but I don't feel inclined to use other guns like my pistol when my main rifle is just better. I think slightly lowering the ammo availability would make scavenging a little more valuable. If possible, even simulating filling up magazines with individual bullets (or other types of reloading) would be cool too!
- In terms of movement, I found myself wishing I could crouch! There was waist-level cover in the final level, for example, but I couldn't hide behind it and was shot to death! I also prefer to sneak up on the enemies, and I find that the walking animation is a bit too casual considering the situation, maybe have the character be more in a ready stance when moving slowly?
- I found that the attachments were a bit of an afterthought as you just randomly picked them up. Not a priority, but I think having more control over the gun customization in a separate UI screen would make more sense.
Finally, I think I found a small visual glitch where after the first few times I reload the gun, the button prompt is incorrect. It says to press T to slide release, but T does nothing and in actuality I need to press R to chamber the first round:
I hope that's helpful and wish you luck on developing the full game!
