Grass and Trees 3 – Elven Autumn Forest
A vibrant autumn landscape greets us on this beautiful amber island. A wonderful forest. This autumn has covered the entire surface with yellow leaves. Very beautiful. And quite warm, although a cold breeze blows. Here we must search for a magical amulet left by the elves.
And so, decades later, you are here. The wizard from Korvun said there is a magical amulet here that suits you perfectly. It is hidden in this autumn forest. Among the leaves. When the elves sailed away on their winged ships, they left behind some magical objects. You must find this amulet before the cold weather sets in. With the cold, a chill autumn fog will come here. And the island will disappear into it. To preserve its autumn forest. Until next autumn.
There are exactly seven days. The magical days are ticking. On the hourglass the wizard gave you. You must explore everything. The island is quite large. There are no monsters here. Only endless leaves. And the trees. And the breeze. You begin to examine the forest. And so far, everything looks like an autumn forest. It's hard to say where exactly to look for the amulet.
You're already walking through this forest. And you look around. Sometimes the breeze dies down. Sometimes it's gone, and even the sun warms it. And sometimes the breeze gets stronger. It seems to be controlled somehow locally. Magically. You've realized it. The weather is slightly different in each place. The whole earth around is covered in autumn leaves.
You're sure that magic will show you the way. But for now, you're simply immersing yourself in the forest. There's still a week ahead. And you're confident in your abilities. Although you don't know where to start searching. For now, you're simply walking into the forest. You've surveyed it from the ship. From the mast. You've even tried to memorize the landscape. Draw a map. But it seems useless.
You've been walking for a full hour. And you're a little tired. Your boots are excellent. And your steps are easy. But the forest is always the same. Different trees. And everything around is covered in leaves. What is there to see here? And the island doesn't seem small anymore. The forest is simply enormous. A whole hour. And in every direction, everything is the same. It's already becoming a puzzle. A riddle. An elven autumn riddle. The ground is almost flat. Some depressions. Some elevations. But not high at all. And trees. Nothing but trees. You're already thinking that if you had to defeat a monster, it would be even easier. But there's no one else here. Leaves and trees.
For an hour and a half, you've been deep into the forest. Everything looks exactly the same. You need to memorize the way. Otherwise, you'll get lost. You didn't ask how big the island is. Usually, there's a forest on an island. A field. Monsters. A cave. A dungeon. A castle. Abandoned ruins. Well, everything is there. And this time, just an autumn forest. You had to ask something. It seemed as simple as could be. You swam to the island, took an amulet from the ground. Made of leaves. And swam home. A sunbeam shines somewhere. The sun's rays fall gracefully on the leaves. Could this be a clue? Too simple. But what else? Here's a sunbeam leading you deeper into the forest. Here's a sunbeam jumping off to the side. The leaves on the ground thickly cover this island. Like a carpet of leaves. And the breeze blows differently. Sometimes there's none.
You walk through the forest for two hours. Deeper. You turn off a bit. Check what's to the side. But nothing particularly new. The sky is bright. As if it were still summer. Some clouds. It looks like a perfectly ordinary forest. Of identical trees. And it's autumn. Beautiful. But where to look for the amulet here? Seven days of searching ahead.
