Genuinely made me tear up (in a good way). I can empathize a lot with this, being autistic myself, so thank you so much for being honest about yourself and your experiences.

(As for the Brontë sisters, I find it interesting that Charlotte seems to have a fraught relationship with her sisters' writing. If I recall correctly, she prevented the republication of her sister Anne's work because her most famous novel, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, criticized patriarchal Victorian society and shone a light on domestic abuse, empathizing with the plight of many women who experienced abuse behind closed doors. The fact that she dismissed Emily's writings is genuinely heartbreaking, but is sadly very true of the ableism many folks experience from their own families (and possibly some internalized ableism on Charlotte's part). Apologies for the long ramble, I guess I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this)
