MeiCheesecake, I need you check out Grimshire (link)! Or at least the video that put me onto it. It is a farming game where the villagers starve if you don't play well.

And if you're at it, see Before the Green Moon (link), too. It does clever things with personal debt and imperial crops. The devs, Turnfollow, have another subversive farming game called A Good Gardener (link)!

And the thing reminded of a conference presentation by Josh Grams where he talks about the same problems.

Plus a few games that implemented some of your ideas from part 3, but in a very gamified way that left a bad taste in my mouth:

  • Greenhearth Necromancer (link)
  • The Regreening (link)

Anyways, very inspiring manifesto! Thanks you for writing it!

I have been meaning to check out Before the Green Moon! I've heard good things about it from people who don't usually like farming games so I'm pretty interested.

I've heard of Grimshire before but I never gave it much credit since it looks so much like Stardew. I'll have to look further!

The video I linked  has the following line in the descripition: "Grimshire is actually a zombie apocalypse dressed up as Stardew Valley and I love it for that." (Plus I edited in a few more things in my first comment.)
