Ahh I see, that makes sense. Yes it does block, my question was more so if I was missing some strategy involved with it, which it seems I was.
Yeah, it does seem like a hinderance at first...
PS another skillful gameplay idea: the shield can be helpful when loading and shooting at a player, then before their bullets reaching you, after you kill them, immediately shielding.
