Thank you for your kind words about the project :) If you want to build a game based on actual hardware limitations you might want to look into something like Verilog, a hardware language used to describe, simulate, and synthesize digital circuits using text-based code. A full tutorial is available online about the language and tools to run the code. This project for example uses it to emulate the Sharp SM510 microprocessor chip used in most Game & Watch handhelds.
