Yes I think I deleted the loadout but didn't create a new one, since it says "MyCoolLoadout" in the name I figured it is automatically created. After I created a new loadout it worked fine.

IMO this menu is too complicated and confusing for what it is.

I can see that, I'll look into some sort of way to improve this and make it more streamlined. I did just upload a quick fix that will properly drop you into a quickmatch with the tutorial loadout if you don't have any pre-made, and makes it much more obvious that you don't have a loadout selected.
