Is stone used for later objectives? As far as I played it was only to drop it when my inventory got full. And sometimes you fall in a hole and suffocate, but that's mine life I guess 😬
near the bottom of the screen there is a input prompt to swap to blocks where you can spend 5 stone to place a block which could've saved you from suffocating lol
