First of all, I really want to compliment the presentation of the game page itself. The visuals, colors, screenshots, and overall atmosphere are very beautiful and already help set the tone before even starting the game.

I also really liked the narrative aspect of the project. The connection between the beginning and the ending was genuinely touching, especially the way the light guides the player throughout the journey. It gave the adventure a very emotional feeling, and I thought the idea of the mother continuing to guide the child was really sweet.

The progression system was another highlight for me. Unlocking new mechanics over time made the gameplay feel rewarding and kept things interesting during the platforming sections.

I also have a few small suggestions that could improve the experience even more:

  •  Some dialogue boxes disappeared a bit too quickly for me, so maybe giving players a little more time to read them could help.
  •  I noticed that parts of the player character sometimes go behind foreground elements like mushrooms, which can look slightly odd visually.
  •  It seems possible to spam the quills infinitely by holding the button, so maybe adding a small limit or cooldown could make the mechanic feel more balanced.
  •  I think it would also feel great if the player could jump upward through active quills from below, especially after falling, since it could make recovery more fluid and satisfying.

Overall, I had a really good time with the game. The story was meaningful, and I honestly would love to see more levels or future expansions of this idea. Great job, and congratulations on the project!

Thank you for playing my game and for your kind comment. Unfortunately, I could not manage to implement everything I had in mind. I originally wanted to show the abilities with a proper UI and display their cooldowns to the player, but due to poor planning I had to leave out many features. You are also right about the text. It was my first time trying something like this in a game, and the timings are definitely not enough. Even I sometimes cannot read everything in time, even though I made the game :D Thank you very much for your valuable feedback!

Thank you for the reply!

Honestly, I think you did a great job regardless. It's very easy to look back after a jam and see all the things we wish we had time to add, but what you already managed to create was a really enjoyable experience.

And yes, I completely understand what you mean about the dialogue timing. It's one of those things that only becomes obvious once other people start playing and reading at different speeds.

I don't know if you're interested in continuing development after the jam, but I would genuinely love to play a future version with all the ideas you originally had in mind, especially the additional abilities, UI improvements, and other planned features. I think the game has a lot of potential.

Congratulations again on the project, and thank you for sharing it with us!
