Interesting you would mention that. the top down 2d was a deliberate choice. I also prefer isometric but with the drawing being done on a 2d plane and the world being 2:1 distorted we figured it could lead to confusion and/or frustration for the players to get hits correctly.
Also - non perspective 2D was easier as our artist joined for the very first jam.
