I like the reimagining!
The Shop though- I didn't really see a big downside to it- in that you can wait for what you want.
Would probably be better if it refreshed after your turn ended, and you could lock them.
Had no clue the cards did anything different though. I thought a pair dealt damage, and a 4 just meant more damage. Then I noticed some numbers go up after playing certain ones before connecting the dots. (And since I was full HP at times and nothing happened, that added to the confusion)
But I can see this as a fun Balatro-like that may even be more fun if it had a multiplayer.

The shop detail is definitely something to take into account hahah as for the effects of the cards, it was explained on the Itch page, but unfortunately due to time constraints we couldn't fit a tutorial within the game. Our current plan is more so a single player experience, but I do see the vision with a multiplayer angle, I'm itching to work on that now ahahaha.
