What would happen if we just picked PACE as a letter selection? Roll the d10 and wrap around? Sure it wont give you the calculated distributions but would be more light, would it make much difference at play?

Also, why is the base sequence Push->Twist->Release->Twist rather than something 3 phased?

The idea is that a twist after a push should generally resolve to a release, and a twist after a resolve should generally wind up to a push.  If twist has no memory of where it came from then it hampers that progression.

However I have been messing around with other sequences and I'm pretty sure you are right that it can be simplified.
