I've recently 100% the Steam version of the game and its been such an inspiring experience, that I wanted to try and reach out to you to see if there might be some means that I could offer my assistance as an artist for potential future endeavors you might have.
I can't remember the exact timeline of events but, I believe I found OPP back when it only had Week 1 or so and I've been loosely following along ever since. I was involved with irl situations and other projects at the time, I believe at that point I was helping with Donuts for Deer Teeth, so I wasn't able to offer assistance then. My recent replaying of the game for 100% rekindled that interest though.
I think that the initial concept for my game might have been inspired by it back then but I can't remember exactly when the idea first came to mind, though it was much, much closer to Papers Please mechanic wise. It wasn't until the recent Game Jam that the idea was pulled off the shelf again, and OPP was indeed a source of inspiration for the alterations our team made for its current iteration. We did work at making it our own though, rather than simply copying mechanics and such, via our dialog deduction and body part interaction type stuff. It did give me a much greater appreciation for the effort you put into OPP though, as it is deceptively difficult trying to figure out how to balance something being 'clear enough to understand' but also 'not so obvious it's trivial, but also not so hard it's frustrating' when dealing with the 'puzzle' aspect of these things.
And I'm not surprised to hear of you being set for things. Still wanted to offer anyways as I appreciate what you do and would love to help be a part of making future projects happen. Feel free to reach out to me on any of my socials if something opens up later on (my username is HeftyTotem anywhere you can find me).
Oh don’t worry, yeah, you guys definitely made it your own. (I gave it a play; preg isn’t my thing, but it’s a good game loop!) And yeah. Puzzle difficulty is such a challenge. I think we are at disadvantage because our target audiences are theoretically horny while playing.
Thank you again for the offer!
