This was an interesting idea, though I feel there was something missing that could have communicated it better. I was pretty confused at first what the candles were for, and I didn't understand that my own candle was going out. Because you can't "refill" your own candle until it's gone out by a certain amount, I tried to see if I could top up my candle when I was first figuring out the game, and when nothing happened I assumed I couldn't. I ended up stumbling across that mechanic basically by accident later on. I also found myself just waiting at a newly lit candle until it allowed me to refill my own candle every time I came across one. The platforming feel could have used some more work too, most importantly a variable jump height depending on how long you press the space bar down for. I loved the art though, and I though the theming was really cute!

I completely agree with you, and the "I also found myself just waiting at a newly lit candle until it allowed me to refill my own candle every time I came across one" is something I got used to while testing and didn't notice how problematic it was when it was time to ship.
I should've just let the flame relight automatically when interacting with another candle...
The jumping was also something I wanted to add but, unfortunately, didn't have time.
