Thank you for the comment!

I completely agree with you, and the "I also found myself just waiting at a newly lit candle until it allowed me to refill my own candle every time I came across one" is something I got used to while testing and didn't notice how problematic it was when it was time to ship.

I should've just let the flame relight automatically when interacting with another candle...

The jumping was also something I wanted to add but, unfortunately, didn't have time.

Again, thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback!

Since you read the other comments you know the problems we had with time haha

I'm happy to know you loved the concept!

Thank you the comment!

As I have also written in other replies, most of the game was made in the last two days, so many things we simply didn't have time to finish.

The Character and Flame were supposed to be separate, so it would be clear when you could light a candle and when you could not.

Thank you for filming you testing! That way we can clearly get the feedback.

Thank you the comment!

I like the idea of some candles being used as checkpoints!

As I have also written in other replies, most of the game was made in the last two days, so many things we simply didn't have time to finish. The separation between Character and Flame was supposed to happen, but I only remembered when it was too late...

Anyways, thank you again for stopping by to comment!

Excellent first game my friend! Congratulations!

Very fun game, played for a long time. Overall, I have some notes of improvement, but I really had fun. This was one of my most played submissions.

- Some optimization is needed at later stages. There was some lag and music interruptions when there wasn't THAT MUCH on screen.

- I would like more minigames instead of just those two, and to be a little more punished for taking too long

- Progression was a bit slow. Besides the first time that I died, yet to understand what was happening, I had no challenge at all. None of my structures were damaged the second time.

Very beaultiful art and the little helper is cute.

For me the problem was really understandig what was supposed to be done... I got I needed to do something to the cois to create the golden coin but, for some reason, didn't get that they shoul all be the same.

It s also very short! When I understood what to do it ended.

Very cool Game! I Really liked it in many aspects, manly in responsiveness, sound design, pixel art and Enemies design.

Since I think game jams are more about getting feedback on what to improve than knowing whats good already, I now list some difficulties I found:

- Hit box of punch was too close

- Hit box of enemies (to damage player) were too pixel perfect

- Some of the bubbles were not clear to me as to what I gained.

- E and Q as controls for WASD movement made ir strange to use.

Wow, I thought it was just a mute button :|

Thank you the comment!

Completely agree. Both me and the artist are at fault here.

On one hand, I spent waaay too much time refining mechanics instead of level designing and playtesting to find these UX problems.

On the other hand, it was my partner's first time making art for games, so he created all of the player sprites with the flames.

I was supposed to separate flame from character but didn't have the time. About 80% of the game was made in the last two days...

Best submission I played so far, no doubt. Would only garantee that the music loops!

Really really liked it. Nothing to add as feedback.

Unfortunately, I do agree with the others that it probably will be disqualified :/

Thank you for the feedback!

You got everything! Unfortunately, since we didn't have a dedicated Game/Level Designer, the programmer ( me :0) focused only on the mechanics and the artist focused only on the Sprites. Besides that, 80% of the game was made in the last 2 days haha.

Thank you for the feedback!

I agree with basically everything you said. Unfortunately, 80% of the game was made in the last 2 days and we didn't have a Game Designer, so most of those things flew over our heads.

About the rules of the jam: we didn't break them! I quote the passage that makes it legal below :

"The only exception to the "wordless" rule is that you may display specific control buttons [e.g. a controller "X" or "Y" button, or the "WASD" keys] as on-screen prompts."

Thank you the comment!

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to properly add a tutorial for the re-light aspect.

Basically you can re-light your player on a lit candle (even one you just lit!).

Therefore, the main mechanic is to go until you find a candle, light it, wait for your to totally run out, than re-light it by pressing Enter.

I don't know why a didn't simply re-lit it automatically... :/

Please, try again to hit the end! The are only two levels.

Again, thank you all for the feeback.

Sure! Like I said, I don't know why I went this route... Since it was natural for the light to run out, I think I just went with it and ended up getting used to it. So, in the end, I didn't notice how counter-intuitive it was

Well done my friend! Keep it up!!!

Just call it! If the player is inside the scene that is currently playing, he is basically just a node. So reloading the scene will reload everything

We have combat! Try putting some input to reset the game. the command:

get_tree().reload_current_scene()

will reset it.

Nice Work Andy!

Loved The cutscenes and the smoothness of the mecanics. Poor rat! xD

If I were to give a suggestion, I would say that some objects that look like I could walk over I actually couldn't. So I sometimes got confused when the cat started walking haha.

Great submission!

Thank you for playing! Sure, I will try yours!

Thank you for playing! You are totally right about the consistence in the investments returns. The initial idea was to have a few modes that would alternate (TO HELL, DOWNWARD, LATERALIZED, UPWARD, TO THE MOON). Since I didn't have time I preferred to leave it easy to reach the goal. Ended up being too easy xD
