As much as this is a tech demo, I see potential in a premise of a house that just does whatever the hell it wants. Plus, having to squeeze information out of sussy guests its inviting can effectively build up tension for a cool mystery to be solved in the future.
I would write more but Knight already beat me to the punch
Kekekekekekeke.... I have a lot of plans. Lots of systems already setup in testing phases (only available if you find the dev mode switches). There are a couple mysteries already hinted at if you interact with enough objects in the house. ^,.^
I guess, why be precious about it. There are actually several hints towards possible mysteries involving the house and main guests in the cover image for the game. ( ˶ •́ ω •̀ ˶ )
Alright, will give it another go if I find time. Maybe I completely missed the content since I was just walking around aimlessly
I can make things a bit more on rails, but the NPC emotions, NPC activities, and such are almost finished being setup (in their early states) and I am hopeful that will make up for the lack of quest markers. The next version I release will have a lot more non-routine NPCs as well more world appropriate minigames. (NPCs will die if you don't provide food resources)
Though this is still an early alpha for my first game, so please keep that in mind.
Gave two honest tries to the game, and another half-hearted one. Were not able to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing or how to progress. Either I'm missing something crucial or current game loop is just too barebones to be engaging. Narratively, it felt that I should be either managing tenants or finding ways to sustain myself on them. Gameplay-wise, I don't think there were enough options to do either with the first tenant. Don't know if there were more tenants to appear (if there were, then the wait time is quite high, it seems). Also, the saving issue leading to TypeError mentioned before, kinda didn't give me an opportunity to prolong my playthrough to maybe see more.
What I liked about the game is the amount of polish and care put into the map and its visual details and a lot of other small things like saving mice's little animations, light affecting my vampire near windows, and some extra options and info on different map objects. It was apparent where a lot of effort was put, and currently that being the presentation of the game is its strongest suit.
I think the game has some nice potential and hope you will be able to flesh it out more! Good luck!
The game actually has auto-save on map load enabled. I think it was turned off for a couple versions after I implemented VisuStella, but it is definitely back on now! ^,.^
Working on the gameplay in between more visitors. 2 show up on day one. 2 show up on day two. 1 shows up on day three.
I am adding minigames to play with the guests, gardening to grow them food, and a bit of management as a host.
I will look at rewording things on my games page a bit.
Every NPC has a daily routine setup with the time system. You will find them messing with things, meeting other NPCs, going down hidden paths, leaving items under bookcases, et cetera. I only had one routine fully implemented until today. It does, in some cases, take a few in game days to get to that content but I am working on fleshing everything out. I am just greatly limited on work time by my caretakers. >.<
I can't wait to play the full version! The concept sounds really cool. I love the quirky dialogue and details throughout the game :] I did encounter a bug though, the screen froze at black screen after Game Over, and once I reloaded the page and continue, this error is shown when I entered the bedroom:
"TypeError
$gameMap._proximityBallooned.has is not a function"
Sorry about that! My time system works per play session, so I bypassed the return to title (to avoid starting a game at the wrong time) and it worked perfectly... locally... then I uploaded the game. >.<
